National Reading panal 2000
In 2000, the National Reading Panel submitted its research findings and recommendations to Congress in a report (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, [NICHD] 2000). The NRP was instructed to find out what the research says about how kids learn to read. This monumental body of work has served as a cornerstone for literacy instruction.

WHAT DOES SKILLED READING LOOK LIKE?
The Simple View of Reading is a pivotal model of the convergence of reading research. It describes successful reading comprehension as the product of two broad skills:
Reading Comprehension = Decoding x Language Comprehension
Students need to both understand spoken language, as well as quickly and easily identify words in print in order to comprehend text.
Students with dyslexia have difficulty identifying words in print accurately and fluently, as well as spelling and decoding words. This interrupts comprehension of text. For more information about dyslexia, please visit the following resources:
